My Sister's Wedding

16th November, 2011 – A day that might easily be classified as one of the Hard to forget days of my life. After all, it marked the wedding of my Favorite sister, Aditi. Oh yes, Favorite is rightfully the word for her, just like the way I can say she is the most Lovable of all my cousin sisters for me.

Ok.so on with the wedding. First, the venue – A lavish farm house lawn in Delhi, near Gurgaon-Kapashera border.

Oh, I just used the word that I will have to use All over this text. Yes..that word is Lavish. Coz that’s exactly what the wedding was, and again Rightfully so, it was a Big Fat Indian Wedding, with all the glamours and glitters.

So finally I reached the venue of the wedding with my family, kind of right on time, after a bit of looking out for the routes, even though they weren’t really difficult, just a tiny bit confusing.
And to our amusement, nothing at all suggested we arrived even a bit late. As  if this wasn’t all, what
was more amusing was that the groom had reached the venue with 4-5members of his family as
well, and was preparing for the pooja in the adjoining room provided to us.
Anyways, I could spot some familiar faces at some distance, thankfully, but just 2-3 of them. So they
Were all the people of our Huge Joint Family, that had actually reached before time to make sure the
arrangements were up to the mark. Some helpers at the venue were still busy decorating the place
or taking our family’s gifts for the groom inside the venue from cars.

Soon, more cousins appeared at the scene and we administered certain arrangements, just as the
guests started coming in. It seems the party Had begun. We started feeding our empty stomachs
with the numerous number of snacks being served. Just then arrived the guy who was assigned the
task to tie Pagadis to all the family males. And soon, I was wearing a golden colored pagadi, even though
people said it didn’t really match a lot with what I was wearing then – A Black Jodhpuri BandhGala.
Oh, and that reminds me, my Jodhpuri earned me so many compliments, right from when I reached the
venue, till the end. Infact, the Last one was actually quite a lot interesting too. Wish I hadn’t kept the
pagadi for a long time. Might have got me some extra compliments ;)

Anyways, let me now try to describe some of the decorations at the place. Well, to put it simply, it
was all Awesomely done. No doubts in saying, it was paid for with an equally astonishing amount
later, but that’s why its called a Big Fat Indian Wedding.
The main stage, where the bride and groom were to exchange VarMala was beautifully done with
uncountable number of flowers of various kinds. The stage actually had a staircase to go to a narrow
passage above the stage, which could have been used to throw flowers on the couple. And the
entire thing was decorated with no inches spared. I guess a picture would be much better than my
thousand words in this context.
Some fireworks were also planned at the stage, to be set off when garlands would be exchanged,
just like there was to be a Rose Petals Rain Shower from behind the stage. But ultimately they only
disappointed, maybe because the event managers were too inexperienced, unfortunately for us.

The Mandap, where phere were to be taken, was given a rather simple look and it looked elegant.
What interested me was the stadium like seating that was set-up for people to sit there and
watch the ceremony.
Another place worth noticing was the Lounge area, for people to sit down and relax, after having a
good dinner, or maybe just after the snacks or whenever else. Now, this place was chic modern in its
do, with fur used exceedingly well for a number of purposes, like fur carpets n all.

Oh, I completely missed the Food Court. Actually it was something that could jus Not be missed. And
not only coz it is Food, but also coz of its Size.
The caterer for the Wedding ceremony was Seven Seas, which is considered to be the Best in the
business for our kind of vegetarian food. And what is even better about this caterer is their
willingness to serve you food. All their employees, from waiters to captain was all ready to Serve you
whatever you desire, such is their spirit.
And the menu…..Holy Smoke!! I apologize but that is one thing I wont even try to recall. It was so
damn lengthy. You name a vegetarian food, and it was there. From all Indian cuisines to Chinese,
Italian, Mexican, and I’m not sure what else.
Exotic fruits, Domino’s Pizzas, Costa’s coffee..such is the elaborate menu served by Seven Seas and it
was all There.
So basically, food was one area which had everything and still cant really be discussed.
