08th October, 2010 (Notion Ink ADAM)

Not very long ago (or lets say, a few months ago;), i was Google'in out smthin (which i dont remember anymore)
While searchin, i came across a device, which i haven't been able to get outta my head since
Instead, i guess, its bttr to put it like- I ve been wantin it to BE IN MY HANDS since then
N now, that the time has nearly come, i am Definitely Very Excited.. :) :) :)

Ok..Enufff of all the Puzzles!! (Bt it was quite nice fr an Opening fr a post..wats say!! ;)
Lets get onto business now.. The device i mentioned above..Its called "ADAM"-conceptualized, designed n developed by Notion Ink.

I write this post on this amazing product, nt cz Notion Ink is giving me a free ADAM for this(oh..i so wish this were true tho).
I write this post with just and only one motive- to spread some knowledge about this device, which i feel has not yet got the hype that it shud get before its launch itself, even tho it has already been touted as the Ipad killer by the masses worldwide

Notion Ink is basically a Hyderabad based startup, founded by an IIT'ian named Rohan Shravan in May, 2009.
"Its is a firm dedicated towards the development of innovative products in the information, communication and entertainment space" (quoted from their website http://www.notionink.in)

ADAM is a Tablet computer, that is currently under development and is expected to hit the markets anytime after Mid November.

Now, ADAM has got some real awesome features and specifications. I ll try to put them in the simplest possible language, eliminating the techincal stuff as far as possible:)

To begin with, the ADAM runs on a Nvidia Tegra2 Dual Core Processor(like we have Core2Duo n Dual Cores in our pc's).
Storage wud vary depending on the variant that you choose- either 16GB or 32 GB, both with Memory Expandability using Micro SD Card
Then, there is a slot fr inserting a Sim Card too. So, the device can be used fr makin voice-calls(nt completely sure on this), and with 3G available, the ADAM can also be used fr Video Calls

Oh, i missed the camera, which is somethin Innovative in itself. ADAM has a 3.2Megapixel camera which can rotate upto 185degrees. So you can use the same camera fr clickin pictures or for ur video chats.

Then ofcourse, there are the usual stuff like 2USB ports, 1mini-USB port, built-in stereo speakers, built-in microphone, 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack, Bluetooth etc

The WirelessLAN(WiFi) in the ADAM uses the latest standards defined fr WiFi equipments, called 802.11 b/g/n instead of 802.11 b/g used by all other devices. This basically supports WiFi signals that can travel much further than before, in simple language
Then ofcourse, there is the normal GPS n the onscreen keyboard which is smthin usual here.

Bt we re here to talk of the UnUsual..Isn't it ;) So here goes..
ADAM has a Trackpad on its Backside(jz like the one on laptops)..fr times wen you can't Touch-Screen(did i miss tellin you that ADAM is a Touch Screen device..or was it jz obvious cz touch screen tablets r such a Rage these days;)
Next up, ADAM has 3 types of sensors(other devices usually use 2)- RF proximity sensor, Ambient Light Sensor n a 3-axis accelerometer
Oh, n ADAM is capable of playin HD, screen resolution of 1024x600
The battery, too, is smthin class apart, supportin Music playback of 140hrs n HD video playback of 16hrs, on a full charge

Do you think that's all........
Ofcourse NOT..As before, The BEST comes after the Rest ;)

The SCREEN.. ADAM uses a 10.1" Pixel Qi Transflective LCD Screen with Multitouch support. Lets elaborate this here. Multitouch, m sure, most of you already kno..Touchin the screen at multiple places at once to get some awesome things done.
Transflective LCD screen can be neglected here fr bein a usual LCD screen used in many other devices.
Lets come to Pixel Qi.. Pixel Qi is basically an LCD screen that is able to turn off its backlight, which serves us 2 purposes-
- Saves the Battery-life, cz switchin off backlights wud make ADAM consume low power
- Secondly, n very importantly, it switches the device into a Black n White Reflective mode that can function in Ambient Light conditions (ever had a problem viewin the laptop screen wen it was too sunny..Well, Pixel Qi solves that problem)
Oh, n ADAM is the First device to leverage the power of a Pixel Qi screen :)

Next BEST thing about the ADAM is its Operating system (like the Windows 7 that you use on ur computer)
ADAM comes with Android 2.2 operating system from Google. This means the users can use Google marketplace to download n use a wide array of applications.
Apart from that, ADAM would also have its own marketplace called GENESIS, fr applications solely fr the ADAM :)

ADAM has a colored side cladding, so you can choose the color that best suites You n ur Personality.
The sides of the body are made of Magnalium Alloy Chassis which provides the strength to the whole device. Its light, strong and designed to resist shock propagation to other components (due to which they are used heavily in Aircrafts)
Oh..n this pt land here jz outta nowhere- ADAM supports full 3D effects ( tho i mite b able to elaborate on this only once the user-interface is launched)

ADAM is supposed to be jz a mere 14mm thick with a wt of about 600-650 gms
Nw that is really Cool!!

With all these wonderful features, the ADAM has been called the Ipad Killer, which really seems very True. The pricing of ADAM has also been kept in accordance wit this image.
ADAM will be launched in 4 variants and ALL the variants have been priced LESS than the most basic model of the Ipad, as of the current reports.

Rohan Shravan has been in constant touch with all the worldwide fans of his innovative device through his blog and giving constant updates about the device.
Infact, these days, Rohan has started discussin the design decisions of the ADAM on his blog.
All the comments have 1 thing in common- that they(the writers of the comments) are waitin Eagerly n super EAGERLY fr the ADAM

I, too, hope to get my hands on the ADAM..Asap. Can imagine all that i wud use the lovely device for
N ofcourse, wat fun it would be to Flaunt the clamshell, that it is

Bt till then, I, like many others worldwide, am gonna be glued to their blog fr more updates n designs.
Incase you might be interested, Notion Ink launches the Official n Final design of the ADAM on the 9th of October on their blog (http://notionink.wordpress.com/)

M waitin dearly fr this update..Its somethin BIG comin our (ADAM-lovers) way
Hv all hopes high regardin the ADAM n m sure it'd live Up to it..n ofcourse KILL the Ipad too;)
N priced@25k fr a model with the Pixel Qi screen, WiFi, 3G, 32GB memory n host of other mind-blowing features, i really believe its an Amazing Deal!!
Think over it.. you still have sm time left ppl!!
Jz like i have..sm more time left fr my sleep. So lemme rush to bed n you..Do sm Google'in urself on Notion Ink ADAM (or ask me watever you want about it) n i am sure you'd LOVE it :) :)

04th October, 2010 (CWG 2010 Delhi-Opening Ceremony)

So i visited the Grand Opening Ceremony of the 19th Commonwealth Games, being held-in a Royal Indian manner- in the country's capital, My Country's Capital-My City- Meri Dilli!! :)
N jz as i put it above.. Royal it was.. To the Core (had to b all the Grand n Royal..Afterall it was presented by INDIA n Indians :)

Before goin any further wit my post, lemme first take this opportunity to Thank all those who have shared this opportunity of makin me Witness this Historical event..Long list i mst say.. Firstly the Govt.s of India n of Delhi and the Organizing Committee of CWG fr makin all this possible (they deserve Spanking as well tho, bt tat comes Only After the Games;), the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. fr makin the commute to the venue So So Smooth, all the nice n helpful Volunteers n Police n Army men who were there helpin out ppl like me at All Points.
I guess that's All the people i'd like to mention(correct me if i missed Anyone, in the comment section below:)

oh..i Did miss the most important name..or you can say..I saved the Best fr the Last.. SNAPDEAL :) :) Firstly, I'd like to thank them fr the awesome support they showed towards CWG at times wen all it was gettin was a Bad publicity n then to Gimme a Ticket to the CWG Opening Ceremony fr doin the same through their facebook pages n contests :) :)
Thanx Snapdeal..You re really Awesome!! :) :)

NOW.. movin on to the Ceremony. Ok..leme clear out 1st..m NOT gonna tell ya wat happened n who did it.. you probably know that Already wit all the Media coverage(thankfully Positive)
N if you don't..Gosh!! You better start readin Newspapers n start watchin that stupid channel wit YouTube videos shown as Breaking News!!

That sed, lemme start recallin..Still leaves me Awestruck, watever i witnessed yesterday!! :)
Ok..So here i was, at the stadium, firm on My seat-1530hrs in the afternoon, with the ceremony to start at 1900hrs(IST)
Damn the ppl who insisted ppl shud leave at 1400hrs n b ready to face Looooong lines.. I finished all security checks n entered in bout 15-20 minutes.
Oh..that reminds me.. Super good security arragements, Huge list of Not Allowds n Utter confusion whether Still Camera were allowed or not, tho it dint stop ppl from gettin it anyways (Jz like it dint make me Take one from sm1;)

Oh yeah..Hw can i forget this part.. Stepped out of the Metro station at JLN stadium n walked fr a few minutes n what i saw was the gate i had to use fr entry.. Super-Luck :)
N ppl askin others for Spare tickets.. Wow!! I mean they jz wont resist tryin their Luck at the Last moments :D

Anywayz, once in i cudn't make out Wat to do or anythin, so i tried checkin the Merchandise store which had nt received its Rate-List, that was expected in an hr or so. So i had to return empty handed. N wit that returned my ideas of buyin a Vuvuzela. Dam..I still REGRET i dint buy it :x :x :x

Anywayz, sat on my seat without anythin to do fr hours.Gettin bored..Nothin at hand to do:(
Even tho i did find a unsecured Wi-fi connection on my celphone, i dint chance takin a risk wit the high security concerns. So i jz kept lukin Here n There n b4 i knew it, i had a bad pain in my neck..Darn its so susceptible these days:( :(
Saw ppl from All walks..Uncles Aunties Kids Boys n Girls..Everyone was there.. So different yet smthin similar.. INDIAN :)
Oh..there were a no. of foreigners too..n their actions, then, were hilarious. Each foreigner wud find his seat wit the help of volunteers, take out a napkin frm smwhere n wipe the seat thoroughly b4 sittin
One lady even used some Hand-Sanitizer kinda liquid wit the tissue.. I cud hv jz fallen off my seat laughin at that ;)

Anywayz, long aftr the wait, a small program started at 1700hrs with Shibani Kashyap singin sm of her songs, followed by Anand Raj Anand singin his CWG songs n then came the Shera song, all accompanied by the dancers.
Wat i really loved, tho, were the Incredible INDIA videos that came after this :) :)

The main event started Right on Time, altho i'd expected there to be atleast some delay, as there always is(the Indian Stretchable Time;)
Loved n joined the shouts wen our Dearest Ex-President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam appeared on the screen..He is such a Gr8 man :)
Exactly opposite behaviour was meted out to Suresh Kalmadi, who was badly hooted everytime his name was taken;)
Cheers also went out wenever sm1 spoke smthin good about India:) :) Kalmadi was made2pause so many times during his speech cz of this:)
Prince Charles n the Indian President also had to pause once or twice fr the same reason:) :)

Oh..completely forgot to mention the lovely support tat Rehman's Anthem got everytime it was aired on the screen
Their were Vuvuzela sounds too..bt occasional. The South African team players carried their own Vuvuzelas wen they entered the stadium in their march-in wit their flag. Oh yes..they played it too..while walkin n infact, during the show, most of the vuvuzela snd came from them only

The Pakistani contingent received a nice n cheerful welcome..An Indian perspective-"ATITHI DEVO BHAVA"

It was the INDIAN team who received a Grand OSSUM!! entrance.. ALL the people present in the arena stood up n clapped, jz as soon as they saw the Indian Flag at the entrance of the stadium. Cudn't hear a single word of wat the announcer sed after that, cz we kept clappin till the Indian team reached their seats. N infact, the Indian Contingent was So So Huge, they covered more than Half of the track, that was their fr em to walk, all at once. Pretty Hugely Enormous!!

The lights, the sound, the graphics, the cultural program..everythin was jz superb n so well prepared. Special mention goes to the Aerostat..It was jz Mind-Blowing..The breathtaking pictures that it presented n everythin from pulling up the Kathputliyan to the Yoga figure made of lights..It made everythin..all the show..so so so much more entertaining :)

Oh..the Yoga section!! That too was an Awesome display- from the lovely formation of a leaf shape by the kids all to the huge light-guy emergin in b/w the stage with his 7 senses(indriyan).. It was amazing

Similar was the li'l boy playin Tabla..center stage. He was so cuuuuuuute n wit that sweeeety smile..He was lukin jz so amazing n confident too. Besides, wit his Curly hairs n Table skills, he luked nothin less than Ustaad Zakir Hussain :)

Loved the amazing display on the Aerostat during the Knowledge Tree segement.. It really gave the luk of a marvellous tree, wit all the drapes hangin below n the Green leaves projected to the Aerostat..WOW!!! AMAZING!!!!

So was the Indian Journey segement..It was like So realistic.. i guess it'd surely have included Eveythin tat you possibly can relate to India.. Dancin in the Train, Cycles, Bollywood, Dabbe-Wallas, Cycle- Rickshaws, Gas-Cylinders, Churi-wallahs, Auto, Auto-wallah, Tarbooz, Girls goin to fill water in the Matkas..Gosh. i can hardly recall more..Bt m sure m still missin a hell lot of wat i saw in there..in that Single segement
Particularly liked to Huge n Cute faced Auto-wallahs, comin from different religions n different cities, playin on the field, Running behind the Autos, goin here n there..doin Full Masti!!

The fireworks in the stadium..it was nothin short of an amazing display in itself.. Superb..international standards.

No discussion of the CWG Opening Ceremony can b complete without a mention of AR Rehman's performance..Electrifying!! Ppl present went Crazy jz on the mention of his name..No accolades fr guessin wat happened afterwards.
In simple words..He jz Rocked the entire arena..n he did it wit jz 2 of his Best songs.. The CWG Anthem n Jai Ho. n the effect..Entire crowd was bound to Move on their seats..claps n fireworks n crowd's chorus was jz another voices that joined in Rehman n his music.

All this while, the Foreigner ladies sittin one seat away from me were jz Awestruck, by the Mesmerising Environment, the Vibrant Colors, the Pulsating Music.. By jz Anythin n Everythin that was bein presented in front of them..In front of Us..in front of the Whole round WOrld.
Similar was the case with ALL the foreigners present in the Arena..Everyone was jz so excited..Bein there..witnessin it Live..Bein a part of History.. the Golden History :)
Who sed CWG wasn't gonna b successful..Who sed there'd be all sorts of problems..I say..jz KICk that Asshole n Kick em HARD!!
CWG rocked yesterday ..n CWG 2010 Delhi is gonna rock All the way to the Closing Ceremony, n even After that, in the minds n hearts of all the ppl :)

Guess India has already posted a huge task fr Glasgow-to match up to this level of an Opening ceremony, n ofcourse the entire CWG event wud follow suite. The Games Village has already been declared the Best Ever at ANY other Games Villages till date.
Really don't think any of the Magic, of yesterday, wud ever be recreated by any other country, for any event, anytime in the future.
cz IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA!! :)

Guess i shud end this post on this sweet note, jz like yesterday's ceremony ended sweeetly:)
Apologies fr the Hazy picture.. Unfortunately had to make do with my stupid Camera-mobile to click PiXXX here too:( :(
Can jz Hope to buy a nice Digital Camera with an awesome Zoom of more than 20X, soon (i gave away all major details of wat i need in my camera..is there Any good soul readin this?? ;)

29th September, 2010..Wat an Ossum day its been..Very Truly!! As it is, i quite Hate stayin at home on Weekdays jz as much as i Hate steppin Out on Weekends :D
Following the same Hatred concept, i stepped outta home without there being any college or classes to go to, only to end up at the Indian Coffee House at CP
Had read quite a lot bout the place, all thanx to The Delhi Walla for his invaluable blogposts on Delhi :)
The place, Indian Coffeee House - Spent some really good time their..It was real relaxing n Fun bein at that Heritage coffee place :)

After spendin a good time their, i was in No Mood to go back home. Instead, i thot of discoverin Paharganj, the place i ve been wantin to visit since the start of 2010, again thanx to everythin i read on The Delhi Walla :)
So i set on a Walkin Expedition, in search of Paharganj, following the route i had searched on Google Maps..I guess i rightly followed It, that is
(The Delhi Walla n all these Google Services..They re such Killers in their respective areas, i tell you)

So, after a walk of arnd 20-25mins, i suppose, i Did found the grand entry to Paharganj(it was definitely Grand to me)
So i spent a Good amount of time at Paharganj, walkin all over the market, at first, n then settlin down with an Iced Tea at one of the three cafes that i noticed :)
Again, a gr8 time spent as well as a Gr8 place discovered :) :)

Guess i was too tired after all the walkin n discoverin that i did, therefore i decided to return back home, takin the Delhi Metro this time.
(Delhi Metro is again One more Killer thats available to us)

N well, soon after i reached home, i jz got the Next gr8 thing that this Day offered me(my dad discovered it this time)..An envelope in the Letter-Box of my house, containing a cheque fr Rs.2000, earned by takin sm stupid surveys online :) :)
Gosh, was i happy to see that!! I mean, No its not a very Big Money, bt Money Is MONEY anywayz :) :)

N if that was not all to make my day, i received an information from Snapdeal that i am their Winner in one of the brief contests they ran related to the CWG n i have won passes to CWG 2010 Delhi, which i believe are passes to the Opening Ceremony :) :)
Gosh..this news jz made me jump off my seat with excitement, both of winning as well as the thot of How gud a day can be, at times :)

N infact, i think i ve written a BlogPost after so many days..Even this can be counted as an Achievement for today, also cz its still nt 12 ;)
Anywayz, i ve got a No. of topics lined up to write about, during the upcoming CWG holidays, along with a Long Long list of watever i have to study:(

Hope i wont jz be a Lazy Ass that i am..N wud accomplish every target that i expect myself to during these days :)

"HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY"

Hello ppl..N a very Very Happy Independence Day to you all :)

So i dint take tooo long this time..to come up fr my new post :)
Herez the secret..
Do you remember, i once said we might just have a Guest writing out a Blog post for PiXXX..
Well..Here she is..This is Roohi Kapoor..A good friend of mine..with somethin on India-Pak Partition

Oh..n lemme end up my note by sayin..Any n All Guest writers, who wish to write ANYTHIN r welcome to write for PiXXX :)
(Saves me a lot of work..N gives ppl somethin good to read fr a change ;)

So here it is..

Hello to all,
Well, first of all, let me wish you all a very happy independence day. Honestly I am a newbie to blogging. Probably, it is not my cup of tea, but I was just having a discussion with another friend of mine on “India-Pak partition 63 years back” and that was when I thought of speaking aloud my views and thoughts through blogging.

I am an Indian and I truly love my country and it is a matter of great pride for us to celebrate our 63rd independence day but at the same time I wonder how things would have been different if Hindustan would have never been divided. I personally feel that it was one of the most horrible decisions in the history of our country. I don’t like Pakistan any more than you do. But time and again, my mind wanders to how the situation would
have differed had we still been one country- Hindustan, not fragmented into India and Pakistan.

Britishers came into our country, ruled us for over 300 years, looted our country, practiced divide and rule and even while leaving our country made sure that the practice would prevail. Two religions living cordially with each other were separated; the seeds of hatred were planted so well that the hatred still prevails between the two countries.
They did their job well but what we have till date failed to realize is that it was politics which led to partition. Was it really Britishers who divided us or was it our very own leaders who did the job? Blindfolded by politicians, tension erupted between the two religions which finally led to the birth of Pakistan. “Learn from our past” is what we are
taught in life, but have we really learnt from our past? Time and again, we have been divided n instead of thinking upon it as one nation, we get fragmented into different religions and start fighting with each other. Would this hatred serve any purpose?

Not that I support Pakistan’s terror acts, NO, I would never ever do that in my entire life. But exactly that is what my point is. Why do we (Indians n Pakis) not realize that partition was just a product of the nasty game played upon us by politicians? Pakistanis blame Indians, Indians blame Pakis, Hindus blame Muslims, Muslims blame Hindus- the vicious cycle continues. The damage was done 63 years back and it has now grown upto
an irreparable extent.

But sadly, none of us have learnt from our previous mistakes. We continue to hate people belonging to other religions, they continue to hate us, and the same situation remains. How can we progress if we wouldn’t stand united? The need of the hour is to wake up and realize that we Indians are one- Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains and all other religions residing in India. We cannot afford to do the same mistakes again and
again, else we would have to face its repercussion- a divided India. If this continues to be the case, India would be clustered among several territories and territories don’t progress, a nation progresses- “United we stand, divided we fall”.

Rabindranath Tagore once said- “Patriotism cannot be our final spiritual shelter; my refuge is humanity. I will not buy glass for the price of diamonds, and I will never allow patriotism to triumph over humanity as long as I live.

I believe that once patriotism and religion take a lead over humanity, it is called terrorism. We are one country and we shall continue to do so. We are the youth of the country, the foundation of the future and in order to serve the country, we must be aware of our previous mistakes, so that we don’t repeat them in the future. In the end, I
would just like to say that India has always been a land rich with cultures, traditions and different religions- we must stand as one and let it not perish.

Happy 63rd Independence Day !! Jai Hind !!
